The Juvenile Justice Coalition is seeking to expand its governing board to include people from throughout Ohio. Our board welcomes those of all ages and backgrounds.  We are specifically looking for people with any or all of the following characteristics: 

  • Someone with knowledge of legislative strategy 

  • Someone with a business background

  • Parent of a child currently or formerly in the juvenile justice system 

  • An individual who has previously been involved in the juvenile justice system 

Expectations of the Board 

  • Strategic and organizational planning 

  • Oversee the hiring and evaluation of JJC’s Executive Director 

  • Fundraising and resource development 

  • Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management 

  • Helping to create, shape, and assess the organization’s programs and services 


Expectations of Individual Board Members 

  • Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs 

  • Participate in and take responsibility for making decisions on issues, policies, major expenditures, and other board matters 

  • Assist with recruitment, training, and orientation of other board members 

  • Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies 

  • Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements 

  • Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization 

  • Engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization, including recruiting donors 

  • Give an individually meaningful personal financial donation 

  • Prepare for, attend, and participate in board meetings 

  • Participate in one or more committees 

  • Serve a two year term, with the possibility of serving two additional two year terms (for a total of six years)
